We are delighted that the 8th annual UKASFP conference is heading south west for 2011. It will take place in Bath, one of the most beautiful cities in the UK.

We will be building on the strengths of the past seven conferences by creating times and spaces for solution focused practitioners from all over the UK and beyond to come together and become refreshed and revitalised in their thinking and practice.

We will help to create an atmosphere that is simultaneously informal and conducive to hard work, vibrant and relaxed, serious and fun, where delegates can opt in and out of a whole range of activities.

We are creating a structure that will enable people to arrive in Bath at different times and join in activities according to their preferences. The ‘conference proper’ is on the Friday, but the number of things happening on the ‘pre-conference’ day of Thursday will attract a lot of people to arrive at some time on that day, if not the day before. There will be discussion groups, activists meetings, an introductory / refresher workshop, the AGM, a social evening and, we hope, some dancing too.

Then on the Friday we think that we will have the best collection of presentations and workshops at a UKASFP conference yet. The Friday programme is now finalised, and full details of this will be added to the website very soon. We have a fabulous array of speakers and workshop presenters, who are all now listed on the Presenters page.

We are particularly pleased to be welcoming Elliott Connie from the Solution Focused Institute in Texas to our UK conference. Elliott was the co-editor of The Art of Solution Focused Therapy and will be chairing the morning plenary with the four UK contributors to this book, Chris Iveson, Brian Cade, Rayya Ghul and Alasdair Macdonald - The Art of Solution Focused Therapy - The Sequel!

How could the afternoon plenary follow this? By having a panel of Eileen Murphy, Sue Young and Kerstin Mahlberg! Eileen who has been at the forefront of the integration of solution focused practice into UK social care and education agencies over the past two decades, Sue, who developed solution focused anti-bullying and Kerstin, a Swedish solution focused education and leadership pioneer.

Please do book early, not only to take advantage of the early bird prices, but to book your accommodation. Bath is extremely popular with tourists, especially in the summer and rooms will be booked up fast. See the accommodation page for a range of suggestions which should suit most pockets.

See you in Bath!
